While the Babylon Fortress, located in the Kebeli region in Cizre, was the capital of the 1st Babylonian State, the Babylonians moved many permanent artifacts such as the Marduk statue in this castle to Babylon due to the wars. The rest were smuggled abroad and the Babylon Fortress was burned and destroyed over time. Today, only the foundations of the walls of Babylon, which have been plundered for 3000 years, remain.
